Thalia Westcott Malcolm - aka - Mrs. Donald Malcolm was born in NYC on September 10, 1885. Ms. Malcolm like all great society ladies had several birth years: The French artist register, Benezit says she was born in 1885; Who Was Who in American Art gives her a birth year of 1888, and AskArt (Thalia Westcott) gives her a birth year of 1877. Additionally, she used several notable addresses in locations such as: New York City, Paris and Vence France. Vence is near Nice. There is a reference to Ms. Malcolm in the book: The Education of a Gardener by Russell Page. Mr. Page discusses her outdoor patio/garden in Vence France. Malcolm was part of the rich and elite of New York City society. It is clear that if Ms. Malcolm was alive today, she would know the “Kardashians.”
She studied with Randall Davey in New York and Albert Andre in France, and she was active in numerous art societies, including: New York Watercolor club, the Society of Independent Artists, Federation of the Arts, and American Artists Professional League. She exhibited at Durand Ruel in New York City 1926, 1937, 1941 and Wildenstein’s in London. There is also documentation that in her early years she had an exhibit at Milch and Macbeth (both NYC galleries).
